Actor Anil Kapoor has marked 14 years since the release of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, sharing a heartfelt note that reflects on his experience being part of one of Hollywood’s most successful action franchises. Taking to social media, the veteran star expressed gratitude for the journey, the friendships he made, and the unforgettable memories associated with the film.
Kapoor played the suave Mumbai-based billionaire Brij Nath in the 2011 blockbuster, which went on to become a turning point for the long-running franchise. In his message, the actor noted that while the film’s global success was remarkable, what stayed with him most were the people he met and the bonds formed during the production. He described the project as more than just a movie, calling it a journey filled with trust, teamwork and shared experiences that still feel fresh even after more than a decade.
Ghost Protocol, directed by Brad Bird, brought Tom Cruise back as IMF agent Ethan Hunt after a five-year gap between instalments. The film also starred Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton and Michael Nyqvist, and became widely known for its spectacular set-pieces, particularly the gravity-defying stunt on Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The film was both a critical and commercial success, helping reinvigorate the franchise and setting the tone for its later, darker and more ambitious entries.
For Anil Kapoor, the project marked a rare and significant crossover into mainstream Hollywood cinema at a time when Indian actors were only beginning to find space in large international productions. His performance was well received and opened the door to wider global recognition. Over the years, the actor has frequently spoken about how the film expanded his creative horizons and introduced him to a different style of filmmaking.
Fourteen years on, the Mission: Impossible series has continued to grow, with several successful sequels following Ghost Protocol. Yet, for Kapoor and many fans, the fourth instalment remains especially memorable for the way it redefined the franchise and left a lasting impact on popular action cinema.
