As part of its Jio Hotstar Specials lineup, the OTT platform is all set to premiere Devika & Danny, a fresh and imaginative Telugu web series that blends drama, fantasy, and emotional depth. The series, directed by B. Kishore and produced by Sudhakar Chaganti under the Joy Films banner, will begin streaming from June 6, 2025.

The series promises to explore an engaging story line with Srikaram fame B Kishore as the director and a stellar cast that include Surya Vasistta, Siva Kandukuri, and Subbaraju. The series also includes Kovai Sarala coming back to screen after a long break in a never before role. Sonia Singh, Gokaraju Ramana, Sivanarayana, Viva Harsha, Shanmukh, Abhinaya Sri, Mounika Reddy, and Ishwarya Vullingal are few others cast in pivotal supporting roles.

“I’ve been wanting to do a web series for a long time, but I was waiting for something truly out-of-the-box. When Devika & Danny came my way, I saw it as a stroke of good fortune,” Ritu Varma shared on her reason to work on the series. “This story is sincere and heartfelt, and I’m incredibly thankful to our producer Sudhakar Garu, who believed in it enough to launch Joy Films with the aim of producing quality content,” she adds.
But it’s the emotional core of the series that seems to resonate most with the actress: “A lot of girls are often told they can’t do certain things. This series offers them a sense of hope and confidence. It’s my privilege to be part of a story that could help young women believe in themselves.”
Storyline: When Magic Meets Reality – A Thrilling Tale with a Supernatural Twist
Set in a quaint village, Devika & Danny follows the journey of Devika, a music teacher raised in the shadow of her authoritative father. Conditioned to obey and conform, she agrees to an arranged marriage that leaves her feeling emotionally numb. During her engagement party, Devika begins to wish for something magical to happen—anything to make her feel alive.
Her wishes mysteriously begin to come true. She meets Danny—charming, kind, and completely different from her would-be husband (played by Subbaraju), whom she secretly fears. A beautiful friendship blooms between Devika and Danny, but just as she begins to feel hope and happiness, a shocking truth is revealed: Danny is not a living person, but a ghost.
In a supernatural twist, Devika discovers she can see spirits—just like her grandfather. This marks the beginning of a thrilling and emotional journey of self-discovery, courage, and second chances.
