Dhruv Vikram to star in Tamil remake of Hindi action hit Kill

Dhruv Vikram, son of celebrated actor Chiyaan Vikram, is yet to find a major box-office breakthrough despite his promising start in films such as Adithya Varma and Mahaan. While his father has been actively guiding his career, the right project has so far eluded the young actor. Currently, Dhruv is wrapping up shooting for Bison, a sports drama directed by Mari Selvaraj, which is in its final phase of production.

Even before Bison is completed, Dhruv’s name is being linked to several new projects. Notably, acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam is reportedly considering him for a fresh love story. Adding to the buzz, plans have emerged for Dhruv to headline the Tamil remake of the Bollywood action thriller Kill, with Ramesh Varma set to direct.

Interestingly, this remake will take a different approach from the original. While the Hindi version, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, focused heavily on its male leads — Lakshya and Raghav Juyal — the Tamil adaptation appears to be giving greater prominence to its female characters. Three actresses are being considered to star opposite Dhruv: Kayadu Lohar, Anupama Parameswaran, and Ketika Sharma.

The original Kill was praised for its high-octane action sequences and intense performances, with Tanya Maniktala playing the female lead, alongside strong supporting roles from Ashish Vidyarthi and Abhishek Chauhan. The Tamil version, however, is expected to rework the character dynamics to bring the female roles to the forefront.

Ramesh Varma, who last directed Khiladi, faced a setback when the film underperformed, but he previously tasted success with Rakshasudu, itself a remake of a Tamil hit. Industry watchers see Kill as his opportunity to regain momentum, with plans to eventually remake it in Telugu as well, but only after completing the Tamil version.

If executed well, this could be the film that finally establishes Dhruv Vikram as a bankable star in Tamil cinema.
