Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, along with L&T Metro Rail and NEXT Premia Mall celebrates World Music Day with a variety of music from June 21st to June 26th 2022. There are two components to this festival: Music@Metro and Music@Mall.
Music@Metro, will be a five-day event at 5 metro stations where 113 musicians will busk/play music for about 60 to 90 minutes, every day. We have some very talented musicians on board who will leave the city tapping to their tunes.
The concert will be held at Ameerpet, MGBS, JBS Parade, Raidurg and Miyapur are the metro stations for this live event.
Music@Mall
Music@Mall, will be the finale concluding this week-long celebration. With 15 bands performing their best of the best from 4PM to 9PM IST on 26th June, this day will see an amalgamation of Folk, Carnatic, Hindustani, Bollywood, Fusion, Rap and Rock bands on one stage at NEXT Premia Mall, Irrum Manzil.
About World Music Day
Fête de la Musique or World Music Day is an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June. The first World Music Day took place in 1982 in Paris. Ever since, the festival has become an international phenomenon, celebrated on the same day in more than 700 cities in 120 countries. The goal of Fête de la Musique is to provide thousands of free concerts in public spaces throughout the day.
World Music Day Festival 2022
For Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, World Music Day (WMD) has been a very important part of the annual calendar for 15 years as music brings people together. Music spans genres, generations, cultures and borders – for the city and for the world at large. Hence, Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad has been celebrating World Music Day in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad by organizing and coordinating concerts on a convenient day close to the 21st of June to encourage greater interaction and participation with music.
This year, the city will be witnessing close to 200 artists, 45 performances, 30 hours of music, 5-days of busking, at 5 metro stations and 1 grand concert at the mall! Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, along with L&T Metro Rail and NEXT Premia Mall will celebrate WMD with a variety of music from June 21st to June 26th 2022. The music will range from Indian classical to pop music, from music that will soothe one’s senses to music that will raise one’s spirits.
The event was inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary to Government of Telangana, Industries & Commerce (I&C) Department, & Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department. Present will be Mr. NVS Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail as well as other music aficionados.
