Hari Develops Fresh Story for Singam 4 as Franchise Eyes Comeback
Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Hari has confirmed that he is working on the storyline for the long-awaited fourth instalment of the Singam franchise, raising anticipation among followers of the action series. The director recently revealed that discussions around Singam 4 have been ongoing and that he has begun shaping a new narrative for the popular cop saga.
The franchise, fronted by Suriya in the role of the fearless police officer Duraisingam, began with Singam in 2010. The film’s commercial success led to two sequels — Singam II and Singam 3 — each expanding the scale of action and the reach of its storyline. Over the years, the series has become synonymous with high-energy sequences, powerful dialogues and a strong portrayal of law enforcement.
Speaking about the potential fourth chapter, Hari indicated that he does not wish to merely repeat earlier formulas. Instead, he is reportedly exploring a different narrative direction that would elevate the franchise while retaining its core identity. While the earlier films dealt with regional crime networks before moving into international territory, the upcoming story is expected to introduce a distinct conflict and new adversaries for Duraisingam.
The director also acknowledged that the project has taken time to materialise due to scheduling commitments. Both Hari and Suriya have been engaged with separate film ventures in recent years, making it difficult to align calendars. However, with preliminary story work now underway, the possibility of a formal announcement appears closer than it has in years.
Should it proceed, Singam 4 could be mounted as a pan-Indian venture, reflecting the growing trend of Tamil productions achieving nationwide and global visibility. Expanding the film’s linguistic and theatrical reach could introduce Duraisingam to an even broader audience.
Although production timelines and casting details remain undisclosed, confirmation that the script is being developed has renewed interest in the franchise. Fans who have followed Duraisingam’s journey for over a decade are hopeful that the next chapter will deliver the intensity and scale that defined its predecessors.
For now, Hari’s focus remains on finalising a compelling screenplay. If all falls into place, Singam 4 could mark a significant return for one of Tamil cinema’s most recognisable action heroes.
