Founded in 2019, IBTIDA – Ek Mehfil is a cultural IP dedicated to reviving the lost charm of mehfils and baithaks, intimate gatherings of music, poetry, art, and storytelling that once defined the gilded age of Hindustan. At its heart, IBTIDA – Ek Mehfil champions ‘Make in India’ brands, classical artists, artisans, and heritage sites, reshaping the perception of ‘events’ into curated cultural experiences. Each mehfil blends music, textiles, forgotten recipes, craft spirits, and evocative design and immersive narratives that celebrate India’s old-world charm while resonating with a new, contemporary India.
IBTIDA – Ek Mehfil, a pioneering IP dedicated to reviving India’s baithak and mehfil culture, is set to make its much-anticipated debut in Hyderabad with Archiva- A series of stories of yesteryears. Known for curating intimate, soulful evenings that bring together music, poetry, and meaningful dialogue, IBTIDA is now ready to enchant the city of pearls.
The highlight of this debut will be an extraordinary performance by Ustaad Shujaat Hussain Khan, a maestro celebrated globally for his distinctive gayaki ang and emotive sitar playing.
The archival evening, along with his music, will evoke nostalgia from the golden era of Indian artistry, the 70s, 80s, and 90s, offering audiences a rare chance to experience the timeless magic of Hindustani classical music.
The Archival series is a heartfelt ode to themes of Ishq, Pyaar, and Mohabbat, weaving an intimate atmosphere where art lovers can come together and reconnect through music and conversation. Through its Archival chapters, IBTIDA-Ek Mehfil is reintroducing the tradition of baithaks as a space for shared cultural experiences, fostering a sense of belonging, reflection, and emotional connection in an increasingly fast-paced world.
