Maddock Films Thama teaser unveils supernatural love in new direction

Maddock Films, known for creating the Stree universe, has now dropped the teaser of its latest supernatural venture, World of Thama. Starring Rashmika Mandanna, Ayushmann Khurrana, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal, the project promises a unique entry into horror fantasy with a contemporary edge.

There is always a fine line between sensual and vulgar. When films cross that boundary and rely purely on unnecessary sexualisation, they often end up selling shock value instead of real storytelling. As Aamir Khan once observed, “sex and violence are the cheapest tricks to sell content.” That’s why when a film dares to mix boldness with craft, audiences take notice.

The teaser suggests there isn’t much new to offer. It is set in world filled with mythical creatures and dark energies. There are glimpses of a vampire, a werewolf, and even a male witch, alongside a striking sequence involving a giant bear. This blend of supernatural archetypes gives the film an unusual texture, positioning it closer to a dark fantasy thriller than a conventional horror-comedy.

Rashmika Mandanna makes her entry into this mystical universe in a never-before-seen avatar, while Ayushmann Khurrana continues his association with offbeat genres. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s presence hints at layered intensity, and Paresh Rawal brings weight to the ensemble.

Thama may be Maddock’s most ambitious project yet in their horror-comedy universe (MHCU), following the massive success of Stree and Bhediya. Unlike its predecessors, however, Thama appears to lean more heavily into supernatural world-building rather than comedy, a creative shift that could redefine the franchise’s direction.

The teaser has already sparked conversations online, not just for its supernatural but also shallow sensual visuals for “entertainment” value. Whether it manages to steer clear of cheap thrills and deliver something truly immersive will be the real test.
