MrBeast promises bigger scale and Hollywood-style production for Beast Games Season 2
YouTube star MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has revealed ambitious plans for Beast Games Season 2, promising a major upgrade in scale, production quality and celebrity appeal. The popular reality competition series is set to return this month, and Donaldson says the new season will feel closer to a big-budget film than an online show.
Speaking ahead of the premiere, MrBeast explained that Season 2 was designed to look and feel far more cinematic than before. Rather than simply increasing prizes or adding tougher challenges, the focus was on improving how the show is filmed and presented. According to Donaldson, the team used extremely rare and expensive camera equipment usually reserved for blockbuster movies.
He revealed that parts of the series were filmed using a camera worth around half a million dollars, similar to those used in Marvel films. Because of its weight, the camera operator wore a special support rig to help carry the equipment. MrBeast said the operator had a background in military combat filming, making him experienced enough to handle such demanding gear. The aim, he explained, was to give the show a polished, cinematic look rarely seen in reality television.
Beast Games first made headlines for its large-scale challenges and huge prize money, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about reality shows online. Its success helped push the series beyond YouTube, turning it into a global entertainment brand. With Season 2, MrBeast believes the show has reached a new level, competing visually and creatively with major studio productions.
Donaldson is also thinking big when it comes to celebrity involvement. While discussing future seasons, he said he would love to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson take part in the competition. In a light-hearted appeal, MrBeast openly invited the Hollywood star to join the show, saying he would be thrilled to have him compete. The comment has already sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see whether such a collaboration could happen.
The confidence behind the project is clear, as Beast Games has already been renewed for a third season, even before the second has aired. This early renewal reflects the strong backing the series has received and the high expectations surrounding its future.
MrBeast returns as both host and executive producer for Season 2, alongside co-creators Sean Klitzner, Tyler Conklin and Mack Hopkins. Klitzner and Matt Apps continue as showrunners, with a large production team supporting the series. Tyler Conklin also returns as series director, helping maintain continuity while expanding the show’s vision.
Beast Games Season 2 premieres on 7 January, streaming exclusively on Prime Video. The show will be available in more than 240 countries and territories, making it one of the widest global releases for a reality competition series. With higher production values, bigger ideas and possible celebrity appearances, MrBeast is once again aiming to redefine what online entertainment can be.
