Police Officials, Industry Leaders Unite for Security Guards’ Welfare at APSA Summit

The Association of Private Security Agencies (APSA) organized a Private Security Guard Welfare Summit at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Centre to comprehensively discuss the problems faced by private security guards and the measures needed to address them. Issues such as increasing minimum wages for security guards and the Wage Revision Act were discussed. It was stated that APSA is working on aspects such as the importance of the private security system, which started 44 years ago, the facilities that should be provided to them, and the measures the government should take.

They said that the issues discussed would be brought to the attention of the government. IG of Police Ramesh Reddy, former DGP Swaranjit Sen, APSA Chairman Bhaskar Reddy, and Security Today editor GB Singh participated in the program. IG of Police Ramesh Reddy said that the contribution of private security agencies in maintaining law and order in the city is invaluable, and their services during the COVID-19 pandemic are unforgettable. He said their dedication to service is an example for everyone. He also said that security guards should serve by seeing God in everyone, and on the other hand, company owners should take the lead in providing them with proper facilities, and the police department will also be at the forefront in providing them with all kinds of assistance and cooperation.

There are 50,000 security agencies in the country, employing nearly one crore people, who work tirelessly day and night, said GB, editor of Security Today. He added that APSA has launched a program for the welfare of security guards, the first of its kind in the country, and that this program will be implemented nationwide. APSA Chairman Bhaskar Reddy stated that the welfare of security guards is APSA’s top priority. Former DGP Swaranjit Sen said he was proud that such a program was being undertaken. He demanded that other governments also strictly adhere to labor laws and implement wage revisions for the guards. He noted that the wages for guards in the Telugu states are significantly lower compared to other states. APSA stated that if wage revisions are implemented, they can provide skilled guards. On this occasion, awards were presented to the guards who have been providing tireless service in the state.
