Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival 2025 – 20th Edition: From Stalwarts to Next-Gen

The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, one of India’s most celebrated theatre events, returns to Hyderabad this November 2025, marking its 20th glorious edition. Curated by Padmashri Mohammad Ali Baig, the festival celebrates the theme “Stalwarts to Next-Gen”, honouring both legendary performers and emerging talents.

This year’s lineup features theatre icons like Mahesh Elkunchwar, Mohan Agashe, Sharmila Tagore, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Lillete Dubey, and Alakhananda, alongside rising stars Junaid Khan (Aamir Khan’s son) and Zahan Kapoor (Shashi Kapoor’s grandson).

The festival will unfold over three weekends in November, offering an eclectic mix of plays, masterclasses, workshops, and film screenings. Highlights include sessions on playwriting by Mahesh Elkunchwar, costume design by Dolly Ahluwalia, and children’s theatre by Mohan Agashe.

With performances spanning musicals, satires, street plays, and international collaborations — including a troupe from Norway — the festival promises a vibrant showcase of creativity.

Set against the backdrop of historic Hyderabad venues like Chowmahalla Palace, Taramati Baradari, and Shilparamam, the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival 2025 continues its legacy as a living tribute to the late Qadir Ali Baig, bringing together generations of storytellers and theatre lovers under one cultural spotlight.
