Ravi Mohan to direct first film with Yogi Babu
Actor Ravi Mohan, who stepped into film production earlier this year, is now preparing to direct his first film. The project, which will feature comedian Yogi Babu in the lead, was revealed during the official launch of his production company, Ravi Mohan Studios, in Chennai on Tuesday, 26 August.
The launch event was attended by several well-known stars, including Sivakarthikeyan, Shivarajkumar, Karthi, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh, SJ Suryah, and Atharvaa Murali.
The upcoming Yogi Babu film is one of ten projects that Ravi Mohan Studios has planned over the next two years. Among these is Bro Code, his previously announced film with director Karthik Yogi.
Ravi shared that his company is working with new filmmakers and young talent, with several films already in the early stages of production. Alongside films, the studio is also collaborating with digital platforms on original programmes, including four dramas and four non-fiction shows, all scheduled for release between 2026 and 2027.
He added that the studio will focus on supporting films with meaningful stories and will also offer a platform for ten independent artists over the next two years.
Ravi Mohan’s move into directing marks a significant step in his career, as he transitions from being an actor and producer to taking full creative control behind the camera. Industry watchers see this as a bold step, particularly as he has chosen to launch his directorial journey with a popular star like Yogi Babu, ensuring the project garners wide attention from both audiences and the film fraternity.
On the acting front, Ravi Mohan, last seen in Kadhalikka Neramillai directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, will next appear in Karathey Babu by Dada director Ganesh K Babu, and in Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi alongside Sivakarthikeyan.
