Rishab Shetty’s short reply fuels speculation over Virosh wedding

Rishab Shetty stays tight-lipped as Virosh wedding celebrations unfold

Kannada film star Rishab Shetty has drawn attention for his muted response to the high-profile wedding of Geetha Govindam co-stars Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda, “Virosh”, with reports emerging that he neither confirmed nor denied whether he had received an invitation to the ceremony.

As preparations for The Wedding of VIROSH – the affectionate name given to the union of Rashmika and Vijay by their fans – gathered pace in Udaipur, Shetty was spotted visiting a temple, after which he was briefly approached by reporters. When asked if he had been invited to the nuptials, he simply replied “thank you” and walked away without elaborating further.

The brief exchange has sparked speculation among film circles and social media users alike, mostly because of Shetty’s past professional ties with Rashmika. Early in her career, Rashmika worked with Kannada cinema peers, and her broken engagement to actor Rakshit Shetty, a close friend of Rishab, has long been discussed in industry gossip.

While Shetty’s understated comment could simply be a gesture to avoid controversy during a joyous occasion, some have interpreted his silence as a sign of distancing from the celebrations. At the same time, others say it reflects a respectful choice not to become embroiled in personal matters that do not directly concern him.

Rashmika and Vijay’s wedding has been one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year, officially confirmed by the couple via social media. In a heartfelt message, the actors revealed their intention to call their marriage “The Wedding of VIROSH”, a name inspired by the moniker fans lovingly bestowed upon them.

The celebrations are reported to include a string of traditional ceremonies leading up to the main event, with the wedding itself taking place on 26 February 2026 in a private ceremony attended by family and close friends at a luxurious Udaipur venue.

Public interest in the event has been huge, with fans celebrating the couple’s shared journey from on-screen chemistry to real-life partnership. Social media has been peppered with images from pre-wedding festivities and messages of support from admirers across India.

Amid the buzz, the on-camera moment involving Rishab Shetty has stood out because it highlighted the intersection of personal history and current celebration within the film fraternity. Whether his brief response was deliberate restraint or merely courteous politeness, it has added another talking point to an already widely covered wedding.

With the stars’ private ceremony now under way, many in the entertainment world will be watching closely to see how close friends and colleagues of the couple engage with this milestone moment in Indian cinema’s celebrity culture.
