Sai Dharam Tej jokes about old breakup with Ram Abbaraju at Hey Bhagavan event

Telugu film star Sai Dharam Tej turned heads and tickled funny bones during a recent promotional gathering for the upcoming comedy Hey Bhagavan, held ahead of its February 20 release. Rather than sticking to formal introductions and praise, the actor surprised the crowd by joking about a past romantic split, humorously pointing to director Ram Abbaraju as the reason behind it.

The light-hearted moment unfolded on stage when Sai Dharam Tej was appearing as a special guest at the trailer launch. Known for his easygoing banter with friends, the actor chose to dig into his own past in front of the audience, prompting laughter and surprise. Instead of the usual polite compliments, he recounted an amusing anecdote about how a former relationship didn’t work out, and cheekily blamed Ram Abbaraju for it.

He quipped that when he and his then-girlfriend struggled to communicate, Abbaraju stepped in with words that, in Sai Dharam Tej’s playful telling, ended up breaking the couple apart. The crowd was taken aback as he shared this “secret,” and the director himself seemed unsure whether to laugh or pretend to be upset. Such candid fun was not something typically expected at a movie promotion, but it clearly amused those present.

Far from creating discomfort, the exchange highlighted the camaraderie between Sai Dharam Tej and Ram Abbaraju. Sources say the two have been close friends for years, which allowed the actor to take such liberties in public without causing offence. The informal teasing underscored their friendly bond and brought a sense of spontaneity to the evening.

Producers and host figures at the event, including Bunny Vasu and Vamsi Nandipati, appeared to enjoy the impromptu humor, contributing to a warm atmosphere that helped Hey Bhagavan’s promotions gain extra buzz. Fans on social media similarly reacted with amusement to the clip once it started circulating online.

Beyond the laughs, Sai Dharam Tej also took time during the evening to officially unveil the film’s trailer and extend his best wishes to the cast and crew. His involvement has added a notable spark to the promotional campaign, bringing attention from both his supporters and general moviegoers.

Hey Bhagavan stars Suhas and Shivani Nagaram, and promises a blend of comedy and quirky storytelling. With its release just days away, the film’s promotional phase has been marked by this mixture of humor and heartfelt support, a combination that could prove appealing when the movie finally reaches theatres.
