Skies turn festive as Minister inaugurates Hot Air Balloon Festival at Parade Grounds

The skies over Secunderabad turned festive on Friday evening as Minister for Tourism and Culture Jupally Krishna Rao inaugurated the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Parade Grounds.

Organised by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC), the festival aims to promote adventure tourism and offer residents a unique recreational experience. The Minister formally flagged off the first set of hot air balloons, marking the commencement of the event.

Addressing the gathering, Krishna Rao said such initiatives reflected the State government’s commitment to positioning Telangana as a prominent tourism destination through innovative and world-class events. He noted that festivals of this nature provided engaging experiences for families and youth while strengthening Hyderabad’s image as a hub for diverse tourism activities.

As the balloons ascended, large crowds, including families and photography enthusiasts, gathered at the venue to witness the colourful spectacle against the evening sky.

Chairman of the Tourism Development Corporation Patel Ramesh Reddy and Managing Director Kranthi Valluri were present at the inauguration.

The festival will continue over the weekend, with scheduled balloon flights and glow shows expected to draw visitors to the Parade Grounds.
