Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups Postponed Amid Global Uncertainty, New Release Date Announced

The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups have officially announced a postponement of the film’s much-anticipated release, citing global uncertainty, particularly in the Middle East, as the primary reason for the delay.

Originally scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 19 March, the film will now be released worldwide on 4 June 2026. The announcement was made through an official statement from the production team, who described the decision as “difficult but carefully considered”.

Conceptualised as cinema for a global audience, Toxic has been filmed in both Kannada and English, reflecting the filmmakers’ ambition to create a story capable of resonating with viewers not only in India but across international markets. The team emphasised that the project was built with the conviction of connecting with audiences at home and abroad, underscoring its cross-cultural vision.

The statement noted that the current uncertainty in parts of the world, especially across the Middle East, has affected the film’s intended global outreach strategy. With international markets forming a crucial component of the release plan, the makers said it was essential to ensure that the film could reach the widest possible audience under favourable conditions.

“After years of dedicated labour, we were excited to share our film with you all on the 19th of March,” the statement read. “However, the current uncertainty has created a situation that impacts our goal to connect with the widest possible audience. Therefore, in the interest of our partners and our audience, we have made the decision to reschedule our release.”

The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, who is known for her distinctive storytelling voice and internationally recognised work. With Toxic, she aims to deliver what has been described as a stylised and emotionally layered cinematic experience crafted for mature audiences.

The revised release strategy will see Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups arrive in cinemas across the globe in English and multiple Indian languages on 4 June 2026, reinforcing its ambition as a pan-Indian and international venture.

The makers concluded their announcement by thanking audiences for their patience and continued support, expressing hope that viewers will turn out in large numbers when the film finally hits theatres.

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer, but the team remains confident that Toxic will find its audience when it arrives on the big screen this June.
