Newly married and celebrating his wedding, Vijay Deverakonda has pledged meaningful support to his native village of Tummanpeta in Nagarkurnool district, Telangana, turning a personal celebration into a commitment to community development.
The star, who married frequent co-star Rashmika Mandanna in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur on 26 February, visited Tummanpeta with his wife shortly afterwards to seek blessings and mark the beginning of a new chapter. The couple performed traditional rites including a Satyanarayana Puja at Vijay’s ancestral home, which was greeted by a warm and vibrant reception from villagers and fans alike.
Following the rituals and celebratory feast arranged for local residents, Vijay took the opportunity to outline his first major initiative as a married man, one aimed at giving back to the community that shaped him. Speaking publicly in the village for the first time since his wedding, he announced that through the Deverakonda Foundation, educational scholarships will be offered to deserving students from the region. Specifically, pupils currently studying in government schools across the Achampet constituency who achieve first and second ranks in their 9th and 10th grades will receive financial support beginning this year.
Vijay, visibly moved by the homecoming, explained that the dual occasion of building a house and celebrating his marriage in his birthplace has inspired him to focus on local welfare. “I’ve always felt it’s important to contribute something meaningful to my village,” he said, emphasising that he plans to return regularly and work alongside residents to help develop Tummanpeta further.
