Director Gowtam Tinnanuri has promised to take all the feedback, criticism, and setbacks from Kingdom seriously and deliver a stronger, more refined second part, Kingdom 2.
Speaking after the release of Kingdom, which stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, Tinnanuri said he is in no hurry to rush into the next chapter. “I want to take time, sit with all the feedback, analyse what worked and what didn’t, and come back with a better version in Part 2,” he shared.
The film released on July 31 to strong box office collections and mostly positive audience reactions. However, Tinnanuri admitted there were areas where the film could have done better. “Criticism is important. I take every comment seriously — be it from critics or audiences. Part 2 will address the flaws, both in terms of storytelling and character development,” he assured.
When asked about the title Kingdom, he explained that it wasn’t the initial choice. “We thought of many options like Devara Nayak and Yuddhakanda, but finally settled on Kingdom as it felt universal. For me, the Kingdom is a place where you feel safe — like home,” he said.
The filmmaker also revealed that the team is considering adding the popular but edited-out song “Hridayam Lopala” in the OTT version. “We felt it slowed down the film, so we removed it after discussions with the team, including Vijay. But many people want it back. We’ll decide soon,” he said.
On casting, Gowtam said Vijay Deverakondawasn’t originally meant for Kingdom, but once they began working together, the story naturally fit him. He also praised newcomers like Venkatesh and appreciated Satyadev for taking up a key role despite his busy schedule.
Tinnanuri confirmed that the core plot for Kingdom Part 2 is ready, and script work will begin soon. Meanwhile, a spin-off OTT project based on two characters — Murugan and Sethu — is also in the pipeline.
