Global star Ram Charan, alongside Anil Kamineni, Chairman of the Archery Premier League (APL), and Virender Sachdeva, President of the Archery Association of India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting marked the successful completion of the first season of the Archery Premier League, a major step towards reviving India’s ancient sport of archery.
During the ceremony, the delegation presented the Prime Minister with a symbolic bow as a gesture commemorating the league’s achievements and future ambitions.
Initiated under Anil Kamineni’s leadership, the APL aims to bring traditional Indian archery back into the national spotlight by providing world-class training facilities, competitive platforms, and international exposure to talented archers. The league’s primary goal is to nurture athletes and offer them opportunities to shine on global stages.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ram Charan spoke proudly about sharing the league’s vision with the Prime Minister. “Archery is an important part of our cultural heritage,” he said. “Through APL, we hope to restore its prominence worldwide. India is blessed with amazing talent, and this platform will help those athletes reach international heights.”
Joining Ram Charan was his wife, Upasana Kamineni Konidela. She presented Prime Minister Modi with a Balaji idol and a traditional puja kit on behalf of Ram Charan’s parents, the legendary actor Chiranjeevi and his wife, Surekha.
The Archery Premier League’s success in its inaugural season reflects a growing nationwide interest in archery, with hopes of expanding its reach and creating a sustainable ecosystem for the sport. The league’s organisers believe that with continued government support and public enthusiasm, India can rebuild its legacy in this ancient discipline and develop future champions.
The APL plans to further enhance training modules and increase participation across the country, aiming for long-term growth and international recognition of Indian archers.
