Prabhas says the The Raja Saab climax is “machine gun written”, but the trailer isn’t much

Actor Prabhas has once again generated strong buzz around his upcoming film The Raja Saab, claiming that its climax will be “like no other” and crediting director Maruthi for delivering a bold and unconventional ending. Speaking at a recent promotional event, the star said that the director approached the climax with such intensity that it felt as though it was not written with a pen, but “with a machine gun”.

Prabhas went on to explain that the film itself was born out of a simple request he made to Maruthi. After a string of large-scale and physically demanding roles, the actor said he wanted to do something lighter and more entertaining for his fans. He asked the director to write a fun story, and that conversation eventually evolved into The Raja Saab. According to Prabhas, the film is designed to offer enjoyment, humour and surprises, with the climax serving as its biggest highlight.

However, despite the actor’s enthusiastic endorsement, the film’s recently released trailer has received a mixed response. While expectations are naturally high for any Prabhas project, the visuals showcased so far have raised concerns among sections of the audience. The trailer appears to feature sets that lack scale and realism, with several scenes looking as though they were shot on modest studio backdrops rather than immersive locations. For a star of Prabhas’s stature, whose films are often associated with grand visuals and high production values, this has come as a disappointment to some fans.

The trailer has also done little to clearly establish the film’s tone or narrative strength. While it hints at a horror-comedy premise, the execution has not convincingly conveyed either strong humour or genuine thrills. As a result, the content itself feels underwhelming to viewers who were expecting something more distinctive or polished.

In this context, Prabhas’s glowing praise of Maruthi and repeated emphasis on the climax has led to speculation that the actor may be attempting to overcompensate for the trailer’s lukewarm reception. While it is not unusual for lead actors to promote their films enthusiastically, the contrast between the promise of an explosive, never-before-seen ending and the modest visuals on display has created a sense of scepticism.

That said, it is still possible that The Raja Saab holds surprises that the trailer has deliberately chosen to conceal, particularly its much-discussed climax. Whether Maruthi’s “machine gun-written” ending can elevate the film and silence doubts remains to be seen.

As the release date approaches, The Raja Saab stands at an interesting crossroads, buoyed by Prabhas’s confidence, yet challenged by early concerns over production quality and content. The final verdict will ultimately rest with audiences once the film hits theatres.
