Telangana Begins Preparations for Godavari Pushkaralu 2027

Cabinet Sub-Committee Meets in Hyderabad to Plan Infrastructure, Pilgrim Facilities, and Temple Arrangements Along the Godavari

The Telangana Government has begun early preparations for the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027, with plans to organise the festival on a scale comparable to the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

As preparations begin for one of the most significant spiritual gatherings in the Telugu states, the Telangana Government has initiated early planning for the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027. A Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held in Hyderabad on Tuesday reviewed key arrangements required to ensure that the upcoming religious festival is conducted smoothly and safely for millions of devotees.

The meeting took place at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Cabinet Sub-Committee Chairman and Minister Sridhar Babu. Telangana Forest, Environment, and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha participated in the discussions along with several ministers and senior officials.

The committee held extensive deliberations on the measures required to organise the Pushkaralu in a systematic and well-coordinated manner. Officials discussed the development of Pushkar ghats, improvement of drinking water facilities, sanitation infrastructure, transportation management and other essential civic arrangements along the Godavari river basin.

Given the massive influx of pilgrims expected during the festival, the government stressed the need for detailed planning and inter-departmental coordination. The meeting emphasised that all concerned departments must begin groundwork well ahead of the event to ensure convenience and safety for visiting devotees.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Konda Surekha stated that the state government is committed to conducting the Godavari Pushkaralu with spiritual grandeur and devotion. She noted that under the guidance of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, a dedicated Cabinet Sub-Committee has been constituted to oversee planning and execution.

The Endowments Department, she said, will focus on enhancing facilities at prominent temples located along the Godavari river belt. These temples attract thousands of pilgrims during normal times and are expected to witness significantly larger footfall during the Pushkaralu.

Surekha highlighted that several important spiritual centres lie along the river stretch from Kandakurthi in Nizamabad district to Bhadrachalam. Notable pilgrimage destinations include Basara, Dharmapuri, Manthani, Kaleshwaram, and Bhadrachalam, all of which draw devotees from across Telangana and neighbouring states.

With crores of devotees expected to participate in the Pushkar bathing rituals, the minister directed officials to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to pilgrims. Special attention must be given to sanitation, drinking water availability, crowd management, and transportation facilities near temples and ghats, she said.

She also emphasised that for many people in Telangana, the Godavari is revered as “Telangana Ganga”, making the Pushkaralu an event of deep cultural and spiritual significance. Respecting this sentiment, the minister called on all government departments to work in close coordination to ensure the festival’s success.

The meeting was attended by ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Adluri Laxman Kumar, and Seethakka, along with government advisor Sudarshan Reddy, officials from multiple departments, and senior police officers.

With early planning now underway, Telangana is setting the stage to host the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027 as a spiritually vibrant and well-organised event that reflects the cultural heritage of the region’s faith, culture, and collective devotion.
