Teamwork Arts, India’s pioneering producer of cultural experiences, has announced the revival of Going Solo, India’s international festival dedicated exclusively to solo theatrical acts. Presented by Reena Wadhwa and produced by Teamwork Arts, the festival returns after a long hiatus, reaffirming its commitment to celebrating one of theatre’s most intimate and powerful art forms while strengthening cultural exchange between India and the global performing arts community.
As the first step towards Going Solo 2027, an eminent international jury will attend the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2026 to identify some of the most compelling solo theatre productions from one of the world’s largest and most celebrated arts festivals. Up to three outstanding productions will be selected and invited to tour India in 2027, with performances proposed across New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
First produced by Teamwork Arts in 2013, Going Solo was India’s pioneering international festival dedicated exclusively to solo theatre. Celebrating the extraordinary ability of a single performer to command the stage, the festival introduced Indian audiences to internationally acclaimed productions and established itself as a distinctive platform for artistic excellence and cross-cultural dialogue. Its revival builds on this legacy while creating new opportunities for international collaboration.
The Going Solo 2026 jury comprises Reena Wadhwa, Nelson Fernandez and Laura Mackenzie Stuart, & Jo Laidlaw bringing together distinguished theatre practitioners and cultural leaders. Together, they will evaluate productions across the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and select works that exemplify originality, artistic excellence and the transformative power of a solo performance.
At a time when large-scale productions often dominate the performing arts, Going Solo celebrates the singular voice of the performer, where one artist alone can create worlds, evoke profound emotions and leave a lasting impact on audiences. The festival continues champion one of theatre’s most unique dramatic techniques while reinforcing India’s place within the global cultural landscape.
