Hyderabad rallies behind Project 511’s Food For Change, raises over ₹3.5 crore for government school development

⦁ The project will develop a new campus with 20 classrooms, laboratories, a library and sports facilities for 840 students
⦁ Project 511 has so far reached over 4 lakh children across 1,319 government schools in Telangana for the development of 142 classrooms, 797 toilet blocks and 310 science laboratories etc.

Project 511’s ninth Food For Change fundraising gala raised over ₹3.5 crore towards its ₹7.75-crore project to develop a government school campus at Gowlidoddi in Hyderabad’s Financial District, which will serve 840 students. Hosted by Hyderabad Round Table 8 Charitable Trust (HRT8) at JRC Convention Centre, the fundraising evening brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders, startup founders, philanthropists, social leaders, senior government officials and professionals.

The funds raised will support the new campus for MPUPS Government School at Gowlidoddi, which is being designed with infrastructure on par with private schools. The campus will have 20 modern classrooms, a library, science and computer laboratories, a dining hall and kitchen, an amphitheatre, a regulation-size football court and landscaped courtyards, giving students access to improved learning, sports and activity spaces.

The evening was attended by Sri C.V. Anand, DGP, Telangana; Sri K. Ramakrishna Rao, IAS, Special Chief Secretary & Advisor to the Government of Telangana; Sri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary; Sri Raghunandhan Rao, IAS, Principal Secretary; Sri Jitesh Patil, IAS, CMD, TGSPDCL; and Sri Mushraf Ali Faruqui, IAS, CMD, Energy Department, along with several industrialists and professionals.

“Food For Change reflects Hyderabad’s spirit of giving and its commitment to creating opportunities for children. The Gowlidoddi project is our most ambitious campus development yet, and the overwhelming support of over ₹3.5 crore shows what is possible when the community comes together for a common cause,” said Hussain Chass, Governing Council Chairman, Project 511.

Launched by Hyderabad Round Table 8 in 2003, Project 511 has so far reached over 4 lakh children across 1,319 government schools in Telangana. Its work includes the development of 142 classrooms, 797 toilet blocks and 310 science laboratories, along with 30,834 dual desks and 718 teaching kits. The initiative has also supported classroom digitisation, school furnishing, teaching-learning resources and English learning.

The Gowlidoddi campus is the latest effort by Project 511 to improve the learning environment for government-school children and give them access to infrastructure and facilities that can support their education and development.
