Kaadhale – the vegetarian restaurant near Clock Tower, Secunderabad has its own fan base, with foodies from across Hyderabad travelling down for their famed dosas.

Come summer, the restaurant of course adds to its menu the much-loved Puri – Aamras, but there’s more now that vegetarian food lovers must definitely try. The Mango Feast – a newly introduced limited-edition seasonal lunch – celebrates the king of the season, mangoes.

Priced at Rs 430, the lunch and dinner, available only during weekends, Kaadhale’s Mango Feast obsesses over mangoes in their raw, ripe, sweet, sour, pickled and curried forms, and is ideal for family weekend lunches and traditional food lovers

Why Kaadhale’s Mango Feast Stands Out This Summer

The sit-down meals at Kaadhale will be all about the Mango Feast until the good mangoes last – and that means at least two more weeks. The banana leaf meal starts with aam panna and then comes the rest – the mamidi thandra (the aam papad of the land), mango bobbattu and mango barfi. Then there is the Karnataka salad kosambari in its mango version.

What is a big mango feast without avakaya – the mustard powder-loaded locally popular pickle – and its sibling magaya, along with the mango roti pachadi made traditionally in a mortar and pestle?

Mango pulihara is yet another seasonal favourite on the menu. Mango pappu and mango gummadikaya pulusu from Andhra, the coconut mango curry from Kerala, and the delicious sambar and rasam with papad – if you still have some space in your tummy – more or less sum up the menu.

That it is served in the old-fashioned way gives it an edge. Biryani and gutti vankaya – otherwise star dishes – found no takers on our table. With the menu also comes the famous dosa in its mini version – had with the pachadi – and aamras puri. The leftover aamras with curd was a combination only Andhra Telugu people are well aware of – aamras with curd rice is almost like a staple for many.

Kaadhale lunch thalis are served one floor above the café, with tables placed in rows, simple décor and food being the focus. Interestingly, that adds to the vibe of the delicious Mango Feast at Kaadhale – pure love for the aam indeed.
