Following the success of Laapataa Ladies, actor Pratibha Ranta carefully selected her next project, opting for a challenging role in the upcoming Netflix film Accused. The actor revealed that after receiving immense appreciation for her debut, she felt pressure to find a script that matched the impact of the film directed by Kiran Rao.
Ranta shared that she went through a period of uncertainty while reading multiple scripts before finally connecting with filmmaker Anubhuti Kashyap’s Accused. In the film, she plays one half of a lesbian couple whose relationship faces turmoil after an accusation of workplace sexual harassment.
Despite concerns from some people about choosing such an unconventional role early in her career, Ranta said she wanted to avoid repeating herself and instead explore diverse characters. She also praised co-star Konkona Sen Sharma for creating a supportive and collaborative environment on set.
