WIF India Launches Nationwide Search for Women Producers to Attend Cannes Film Festival

In an initiative aimed at strengthening the presence of Indian independent cinema on the international stage, Women in Film India (WIF India) has announced a nationwide search to identify two emerging women producers who will represent India at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

The non-profit organization, founded by Academy Award–winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor, is offering a fully supported scholarship designed to provide global exposure and professional development opportunities for selected participants. The initiative seeks to empower promising women producers and connect them with the international film community.

The selected producers will receive access to the impACT Lab, a development program that focuses on strengthening creative and production skills while fostering collaboration across international markets. In addition, they will participate in the prestigious Producers Network at the Marché du Film, the official film market held alongside the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France.

Through this opportunity, participants will be able to engage with global producers, financiers, distributors, and industry professionals. The experience is designed to help emerging talent build international partnerships, gain insight into global film markets, and present their projects on a world platform.

According to WIF India, the program reflects its broader mission to create pathways for women in the Indian film industry and to ensure their voices are represented in global cinema spaces. By offering mentorship, training, and networking opportunities, the organization aims to support the next generation of women filmmakers and producers.

Applications for the program are open to emerging women producers across India who are actively developing projects and seeking international collaboration opportunities. The initiative is expected to bring greater visibility to independent Indian cinema while enabling talented producers to showcase their work on one of the world’s most influential film platforms.

With the Cannes Film Festival widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in global cinema, the opportunity represents a significant step for aspiring producers looking to expand their reach and contribute to India’s growing presence in the international film landscape.
