Ramani Mylavarapu is a Hyderabad-based artist, whose art flows between the personal and the collective, like rivers that carry memories and roots that hold the earth.
Hyderabad-based artist Ramani Mylavarapu presents her solo exhibition Roots to Rivers at Kalamkaar, Bikaner House, New Delhi, from 19th to 23rd September 2025.
This exhibition is a retrospection of her works from 2017 onwards, showcasing highlights from her socially engaged and feminist practice. Key works include projects with farmers, Voices of Waves with the Uppada fishing community near her native place, and Invisible Roots with the Araku tribes of Andhra Pradesh. Also featured are feminist photo-performance series such as Panchkanyas and Real Heroes, disruptive art-historical pastiches, and her Covid-era intervention Mona Lisa with Mask.

The show culminates with her recent works created in collaboration with the Bodo community in Assam’s Manas region, where she reimagines everyday village life through performative photo-collages. By weaving memory, activism, and identity into layered visual narratives, Ramani blurs the line between personal and collective histories, foregrounding women’s resilience and social agency.
