Big-Budget Bollywood Film O Romeo Banks on Star Power and Storytelling
Bollywood’s upcoming romantic drama O Romeo is shaping up to be one of the most expensive Hindi films in recent times, with a reported overall budget of around Rs 150 crore. Industry sources indicate that nearly half of this amount has been allocated to casting, underlining the makers’ confidence in a strong ensemble and a commercially appealing concept.
Leading the film is Shahid Kapoor, one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars, who is said to be commanding a fee of approximately Rs 45 crore for the project. Kapoor has built a reputation for delivering intense and versatile performances across films such as Haider, Kabir Singh and Jersey, and his involvement is seen as a major driving force behind the film’s scale.
The female lead is played by Tripti Dimri, who has gained widespread attention in recent years for her work in Bulbbul and Qala. She is reportedly being paid around Rs 6 crore, marking another significant step in her rising Bollywood career. Avinash Tiwary, known for his performances in Laila Majnu and Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, is also part of the cast and is said to be earning close to Rs 7 crore.
Adding further star value are Tamannaah Bhatia and Nana Patekar. Tamannaah, a popular name across Hindi and South Indian cinema, is reportedly drawing a fee similar to Tiwary’s, while veteran actor Nana Patekar, celebrated for his powerful screen presence, is said to be receiving around Rs 4 crore. Disha Patani also features in the film, with industry chatter placing her remuneration at roughly Rs 2 crore. Supporting actors and additional artists are estimated to account for another Rs 5–10 crore.
Beyond cast salaries, around Rs 10 crore is believed to have been set aside for payments to the director, writers and key technical crew. The remaining Rs 50–60 crore of the budget is expected to cover production expenses, elaborate sets, shooting schedules and an extensive promotional campaign.
Despite the heavy investment, insiders suggest that the film’s storyline will be its strongest selling point. O Romeo brings together director Vishal Bharadwaj and Shahid Kapoor once again, a collaboration that previously resulted in critically acclaimed projects. Many within the industry believe this creative partnership adds credibility and raises expectations.
With a combination of high production values, a notable cast and a trusted director–actor pairing, O Romeo is already generating considerable buzz ahead of its release. Whether it can justify its massive budget at the box office remains to be seen, but anticipation is clearly building.
