Hyderabad Tourism Ambassadors – auto & cab drivers were recently trained with essential skills and knowledge to enhance the tourist experience

In the bustling streets of Hyderabad, auto and cab drivers are not just mere conveyors of passengers but are the very faces that shape visitors’ perceptions of the city. Their extensive knowledge of Hyderabad’s intricate topography, coupled with their courteous demeanor, fair pricing, and welcoming nature, serves as the cornerstone for creating a positive and lasting impression on tourists.

Recognizing their pivotal role in the tourism sector, the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FTCCI) Tourism Committee has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to transform these drivers into true ambassadors of Hyderabad. Under the banner of “Athithi Devobhava,” approximately 200 drivers were recently trained at GMR Hyderabad Airport, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to enhance the tourist experience.

Mr. Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI, underscored the profound impact these drivers have on shaping tourists’ perceptions. Beyond merely ferrying passengers to places of interest, these drivers often double as knowledgeable advisors, offering insights into Hyderabad’s rich history and cultural heritage. From iconic landmarks like Charminar, Mecca Masjid, and Golconda Fort to culinary delights such as Hyderabadi Biryani and Irani Chai, these drivers play a crucial role in showcasing Hyderabd Tourism’s diverse offerings.

The training sessions conducted by the Tourism Committee not only focused on etiquette, hygiene, and language proficiency but also emphasized the importance of imparting valuable information about Hyderabad’s tourist attractions. Through this initiative, drivers are empowered to serve as influencers, guiding tourists to hidden gems and lesser-known destinations within the city.

Furthermore, the Committee’s efforts extend beyond training sessions, with plans to introduce QR codes in autos and cabs. These codes will serve as gateways for tourists to access information about Hyderabad’s prominent landmarks and attractions seamlessly.

With the support of stakeholders including the Telangana government, tourism department, and private organizations, Hyderabad’s auto and cab drivers are poised to become indispensable allies in the city’s tourism promotion endeavors. By harnessing their knowledge and passion, Hyderabad aims to offer visitors an immersive and unforgettable experience, showcasing the rich tapestry of attractions that the city has to offer.
