Good Bad Ugly – is about the Good and Bad or rather violent side of the AK (Ajith Kumar / Red Dragon / Most Feared Gangster across every international crime cartel)- and the Ugly is still unclear because atleast all the actors involved look super good – including the ravishing Simran – a stunning cameo in the second half !!

A makeshift car that converts into a multipurpose fully loaded ammunition vehicle – fully loaded tank with a variety of heavy guns blazing and emerging from all sides in full action as the hero Thala Ajith spins the vehicle around like he would his sports car & killing all the gunmen sent by the main villain. This is in short one of the last scenes of the film Good Bad Ugly. Yet it not the climax; one could call it anti climax before there is a family reunion scene and yet another high voltage action scene where the Red Dragon (AK) delivers justice – following long stretched BTS moments where you get to see charming Ajith going through the shooting and interacting with the cast and the team.
These last few minutes more or less describe the entire film – Good Bad Ugly. It’s Ajith in action all through out with no one to stop him – and nothing that can stop him.
The film is about the Good and Bad or rather violent side of the AK (Ajith Kumar / Red Dragon / Most Feared Gangster across every international crime cartel)- and the Ugly is perhaps the Johnny and Jamie Duo – Arjun Das multiplied by Two – the villains in the script, who to the world are one. That said, Arjun Das even as the bad guy or guys in this case is hardly ugly. There are even a couple of dance numbers assigned to him where he is in his dashing element. So the Ugly part is still unclear because atleast all the actors involved look super good – including the ravishing Simran – a stunning cameo in the second half !!
Coming back to Arjun Das who plays the twin brothers – they let every one including the God Father – the super villain – Babel Jackie Shroff, believe they are one. Babel is the flamboyant villain, who comes and goes at will and then he is left behind in the script as AK concentrates on the Arjun Das duo until the action scene with makeshift tanker and car mentioned earlier.
In addition to the Bollywood senior Jackie there are a ton of actors in the film – Besides Trisha Krishnan who plays Ajith’s wife; there are Priya Prakash Varrier, Shine Toma Chacko, Rahul Dev, Raghu Ram, Usha Uthup, Sunil, Yogi Babu, Prasanna Venkatesan, Tinnu Anand, Redin Kingsley, and last but not the least Simran.
Each of these actors are given the exclusive task of elevating AK’s presence and Thala Ajith’s heroism for the benefit of his devoted fans. Some are just used in one single scene for old times sake. And as you continue to watch the film, you realise that all through the film you have dialogues and scenes that bring back nostalgia and euphoria for the fans. It almost gets into an exhausting monoton. Going by the dip in audience numbers in theatres post the first odd week of the film’s release – it looks like the fans too agree.
Coming back to the almost non existent storyline – Good Bad Ugly is about the most feared Gangster leaving everything behind and serving jail time for his son and by doing so missing all the growing up mile stones. But then he ends up going back to his violent ways to save his son from being framed in a drug and murder case. A straight film with a hell lot of elevated scenes – the whistle podu moments and dialogues – a bunch of them cliched to no end – Good Bad Ugly has no clever plot elements – non at all. One cannot credit it for having basic story line even. It is Thala moments all along that take the movie forward towards its climax!!
Good Bad Ugly now streaming on Netflix is made only for the fans and by the fans – in this case Adhik Ravichandran, who wrote and directed the film and his team. By the way the music for the film is by GV Prakash. Watch it if you are a die hard fan.
