Sri Tyagaraja Jayanti celebrations at LB Stadium with 1,000+ Musicians on May 4
In a spectacular tribute to the legendary Carnatic composer Sri Tyagaraja Swamy, the Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Akademi will host the 258th Tyagaraja Jayanti Celebrations at LB Indoor Stadium, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, on May 4 at 10:30 AM. The musical extravaganza will bring together over a thousand classical musicians from across Telangana in a soulful homage to India’s rich cultural and devotional music heritage.
As part of Telangana’s renewed commitment to celebrating and preserving classical art forms, the Telangana Sangeetha Nataka Akademi is set to organise the 258th Sri Tyagaraja Jayanti Celebrations at LB Indoor Stadium, Basheerbagh, on May 4. Chairperson Professor Dr Alekhya Punjala announced the grand event in a press conference at Kalabhavan on Friday, aligning with the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to promote the cultural arts across the state.
The celebrations promise to be one of the largest musical congregations in recent times, with over 1,000 musicians from all districts of Telangana coming together in a unified “Tyagayya Gana Goshti.” This mass performance will be a spiritual and cultural spectacle for Hyderabad’s music lovers and classical art patrons.
“Tyagaraja Swamy’s legacy in Carnatic music is an eternal treasure, and through these celebrations, we aim to conserve and elevate the devotional and classical music traditions,” said Dr Alekhya Punjala. She also highlighted the Akademi’s recent successes with Bhakta Ramadasu and Nataraja Ramakrishna Jayanti celebrations, drawing large participation and enthusiasm across the arts community.
The event will be graced by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Culture Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, and Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Kodad MLA N. Padmavathi. The presence of these dignitaries underlines the growing governmental support for classical arts.
Adding star power and inspiration to the event are Padma Shri awardees Dr Shobha Raju, Dr Yella Venkateswara Rao, Dr Haripriya, Dr Kovala Shantha, Smt Prema Ramamoorthy, and many others, who will participate in the Tyagaraja ensemble to encourage young talent.

The Akademi is also preparing for another major cultural initiative with 24 teams set to perform during the Kaleshwaram Pushkarams from May 15 for 10 days, reinforcing the state’s commitment to promoting traditional arts in public spiritual gatherings.
