The weekend watchlist is crowded again. From Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Telugu romance Chennai Love Story to a new family entertainer, crime comedy, true-crime documentary and international series, OTT platforms have plenty arriving between August 17 and 23.
Netflix, ZEE5, SonyLIV, JioHotstar, Prime Video and Apple TV are among the platforms adding new films and shows this week. Here are some of the releases worth checking out.
Jana Nayagan
Where to watch: ZEE5

One of the biggest OTT premieres of the week is Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay.
The political action film arrived in theatres on July 23 after a much-discussed journey to release and now makes its digital debut on ZEE5 on August 21.
For Vijay fans in particular, the film carries significance beyond its action and political setting, with Jana Nayagan positioned as an important milestone in the star’s transition from cinema to full-time politics.
Chennai Love Story
Where to watch: SonyLIV
Streaming from: August 21
For Telugu audiences looking for romance this weekend, Chennai Love Story is among the notable additions.
Starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya, the romantic drama follows its characters through love, relationships, emotional recovery and second chances, with Chennai forming an important backdrop to the story.
After its theatrical release on July 24, Chennai Love Story makes its OTT premiere on SonyLIV on August 21.
Pyaar Prema Kalyanam
Where to watch: Netflix
Streaming from: August 21
Marriage gets a role reversal in Pyaar Prema Kalyanam.
The Tamil family entertainer stars Saanvee Meghana alongside director Elan, who also makes his acting debut. Pavi is an influencer who, after getting married, refuses to follow the conventional expectation of leaving her family home. Instead, her husband moves in with her.
The arrangement sets up the film’s mix of family comedy, generational clashes and questions about who gets to define the rules of marriage.
Netflix has confirmed Pyaar Prema Kalyanam for an August 21 premiere.
Clean Up Company
Where to watch: Amazon MX Player / Prime Video
Streaming from: August 21
A business idea born out of disposing of dead bodies isn’t exactly the start-up story most people imagine.
That’s the darkly comic premise behind Clean Up Company, an MX Original crime comedy starring Ravi Kishan, Vishal Jethwa, Amey Wagh, Saswata Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta.
The series follows three friends who find themselves dealing with dead bodies and stumble into a highly unusual enterprise.
Clean Up Company begins streaming free on Amazon MX Player from August 21.
Facing El Chapo
Where to watch: Lionsgate Play
Streaming from: August 21
True-crime viewers have Facing El Chapo on their weekend list.
The crime title revisits the world surrounding Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and the people involved in pursuing one of the world’s most notorious drug lords.
It is among the August 21 releases adding a darker true-crime option to a weekend otherwise dominated by films, family entertainment and drama.
Welcome to the Jungle
Where to watch: JioHotstar
Streaming from: August 21
For viewers looking for an ensemble comedy, Welcome to the Jungle joins the week’s streaming line-up on JioHotstar.
The film brings together a sprawling cast in a comic story involving a film shoot that becomes entangled with what appears to be a military operation. It begins streaming on August 21.
Stillwater Season 5
Where to watch: Apple TV
Streaming from: August 21
Families with younger viewers have a gentler option in Stillwater.
The animated series returns for its fifth season with the wise panda Stillwater continuing to help siblings Karl, Addy and Michael understand their everyday experiences through stories and a different way of looking at the world.
Apple confirms that Season 5 arrives on August 21.
The Dynasty: UConn Huskies
Where to watch: Apple TV
Streaming from: August 21
Sports-documentary fans can turn to The Dynasty: UConn Huskies, a series going behind the scenes of one of the most successful programmes in American college basketball.
The documentary explores coach Geno Auriemma’s UConn women’s basketball dynasty and features players including Paige Bueckers, Diana Taurasi, Rebecca Lobo, Sue Bird, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart.
Apple TV lists the documentary series for an August 21 premiere.
Also Streaming This Week
The week’s OTT calendar extends well beyond the Friday releases.
DC series Lanterns began streaming on JioHotstar on August 17, while Netflix added Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing and the third season of Love Is Blind: UK on August 19. The week’s international line-up also includes Netflix thriller Blood Sacrifice and other returning series and documentaries.
That makes August 17–23 an unusually varied OTT week. Jana Nayagan is likely to command much of the attention among Indian releases, while Chennai Love Story and Pyaar Prema Kalyanam cater to viewers looking for regional romance and family entertainment. Clean Up Company brings in dark comedy, while Facing El Chapo and The Dynasty: UConn Huskies offer documentary and true-crime alternatives.
Whatever the mood — political action, romance, comedy, crime, sports or family viewing — there’s enough arriving on streaming platforms this weekend to keep the watchlist busy.
