REMEMBERING GANDHI – 75 YEARS ON

From October 13 to 15, 2023, an event of profound significance unfolded, marking the 75th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. The occasion, titled “Remembering Gandhi – 75 Years On,” sought to commemorate the life and legacy of the man who led millions of Indians to independence.

The heart of the event was the captivating “Visual Archives of Kulwant Roy” exhibition, meticulously curated from the Aditya Arya Archive. Spanning three days, the exhibition served as a poignant journey through pivotal moments of Gandhi’s life. This visual chronicle prompted deep reflections on the evolving trajectory of India in the 75 years since the Mahatma’s tragic demise.

Central to the event were two engaging panel discussions that brought forth nuanced aspects of Gandhi’s enduring influence. “Gandhi & Modern Environmentalism” explored a lesser-known facet of Gandhi’s philosophy, revealing his environmental consciousness that remarkably resonates with contemporary ecological ideals. His belief in the regulation of wants and the interconnectedness of all life positioned him as a visionary environmentalist ahead of his time.
