The Hyderabad pre-release event of Karuppu turned into a massive celebration of cinema, brotherhood and fan frenzy as Suriya and Karthi shared the stage ahead of the film’s grand multilingual release. With roaring cheers from fans filling the venue, Suriya gave audiences a glimpse into what they can expect from the much-awaited film — promising a mix of emotion, courtroom intensity, humour and full-fledged mass entertainment.
Speaking at the event, Suriya described Karuppu as a film that balances emotional storytelling with theatrical commercial moments. “The first half will be a nice emotional courtroom drama. But the second half will be full of theatrical moments, mass masala moments, full humour and full fun. That’s the promise we can give you before the release,” he said, sending fans into a frenzy.
The actor’s statement has further heightened expectations around the film, which has already created strong buzz through its trailer and promotional campaigns. Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu appears to blend courtroom drama with action, folklore-inspired themes and larger-than-life moments aimed at delivering a complete theatrical experience.
One of the biggest highlights of the evening came from Karthi, whose emotional words about his elder brother quickly went viral on social media. Praising Suriya’s dedication and screen presence, Karthi compared him to the iconic Baahubali sequence where the hero lifts the Shivalinga.
“Like Baahubali lifting the Shivalinga, only my brother can do such massive roles,” Karthi said, drawing thunderous applause from fans at the venue.
The brothers’ camaraderie and mutual admiration became one of the most talked-about moments of the event, especially among Telugu and Tamil cinema audiences who have long celebrated their bond both on and off screen.
Karuppu stars Suriya in a powerful role reportedly centred around a lawyer, while Trisha Krishnan plays the female lead. The film’s visuals and trailer hint at an emotionally driven story layered with action, drama and commercial entertainment. Music for the film has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
The Telugu version of the film is being released under the title Veerabhadrudu, and the makers are aggressively promoting the film across Telugu states ahead of release. The Hyderabad event witnessed an overwhelming turnout from fans, with several moments from the evening already trending online.
Advance bookings for the film have also opened strongly, indicating massive anticipation for Suriya’s return to a full-scale commercial entertainer. Fans are particularly excited to see the actor in a role that combines emotional depth with heroic mass moments designed for the big screen.
With Suriya promising emotion in the first half and “full fun” in the second, Karuppu is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Tamil-Telugu releases of the season.
