Three Telugu films to re-release in theatres this weekend

Making use of the film drought in February and March in Telugu cinema, a handful of 90s, 2000s films made their way into theatres in 2024. Even as Gaami continues its victorious march and many new Telugu films test their fortunes this weekend, several popular films are scheduled for a re-release.

Ee Rojullo – March 23

Director Maruthi stormed his way into Telugu cinema with this surprise hit made under a shoestring budget, starring (then) newcomers Sri and Reshma in key roles. Ee Rojullo was in the news for the director’s use of a 5D camera for a feature film, a decision that was met with mixed responses.

Nuvvu Nenu – March 21

If Teja provided Uday Kiran with a firm launchpad through Chitram, it was Nuvvu Nenu, loosely inspired by Romeo-Juliet, that signalled the arrival of a new generation. Also starring Anita, Sunil, Vizag Prasad, Telangana Sakunthala, Tanikella Bharani, the film’s memorable album was composed by RP Patnaik.

Naayak – March 23

Commemorating Ram Charan’s birthday, special shows of the VV Vinayak directorial are being held across the Telugu states on March 23 and 24. Featuring the star in a double role, the film is an enjoyable action comedy, also starring Kajal Aggarwal, Amala Paul, with catchy tunes by S Thaman.
