Vayu at Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad: A Rooftop Resto-Bar Where Regional Indian Flavours Meet Creative Cocktails
Hyderabad’s Courtyard by Marriott has transformed its rooftop — and how. Vayu, the latest addition to the hotel’s F&B portfolio, is what the team describes as a social destination where conversations, food, drinks and music come together.

A breezy, open-air hangout by the pool seamlessly flows into an indoor lounge that doubles up as a sports bar and resto-bar. Framed by sweeping city views and a resort-style design aesthetic, the space offers intimate corners, communal tables and bar-side seating, making it equally suited for relaxed evenings and lively gatherings.
The name Vayu is inspired by the idea that it must have been the wind — Vayu in Sanskrit — that travelled across regions and continents, carrying stories, flavours and cultures. Sitting atop the hotel, one also gets the feeling of being above the city, with the five elements of nature seemingly coming together in the experience.
The menu at Vayu reflects this philosophy. It celebrates India’s culinary diversity by paying homage to five distinct regions, their ingredients, traditions and flavour profiles, each shaped by its landscape.
Andhra’s Gongura Mamsaam, Kundapur Ghee Roast from coastal Karnataka, Kerala’s Meen Pollichattu, Kolhapuri Mutton Sukka from Maharashtra and Butter Chicken from Old Delhi are among the familiar favourites that find a place on the menu, catering to well-travelled diners who enjoy regional flavours.

Alongside these classics, the kitchen introduces contemporary interpretations and lesser-known discoveries. The small plates menu is particularly playful, featuring Shrimp Pickle with Masala Brioche, which reimagines a beloved coastal preserve in a modern format, Chicken Wings Vepudu inspired by Andhra flavours, Steamed Kalimpong Momos from the hills, and Jeedipappu Pakoda from the South.

The bar complements the food with both classics and inventive signature cocktails. Crimson Wind pairs gongura with tequila and salted agave, Kokum Cloud blends gin, kokum and passionfruit, while Firestorm Ember layers ginger-infused tequila with fermented chilli agave. The cocktail programme is inspired by the journey of a paper plane, imagined as travelling across destinations and collecting local ingredients and flavours along the way.

In short, Vayu, one of Hyderabad’s newest rooftop resto-bars, makes a compelling case for regional Indian cuisine while embracing contemporary influences across both food and drinks. Its thoughtfully designed nooks and open spaces make it ideal for after-work meetups, weekend celebrations and long conversations over cocktails.

As the evening progresses and daylight fades into the city skyline, the space gradually transforms into a lively social hub where Hyderabad’s creative, entrepreneurial and culturally curious communities come together.

“Vayu has been envisioned as a social destination that reflects the energy of Hyderabad today,” says Amardeep Singh, Multi-Property General Manager, Hyderabad Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre and Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad. “The focus has been on building a strong cocktail programme alongside a menu that celebrates regional Indian flavours, creating a space where guests can spend an entire evening embracing the cosmopolitan spirit of Hyderabad.”

Bringing together regional Indian flavours, imaginative mixology and a vibrant social atmosphere, Vayu offers a new dining destination that reflects both the diversity of India and the evolving spirit of Hyderabad. It is a place where stories travel as freely as the wind that inspired it, creating experiences that extend far beyond the meal itself — for a city, and a generation, that is always ready to gather.
