Recently, Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori made a surprising statement about an old incident involving Aamir Khan and director Mahesh Bhatt. He said that during the making of the 1998 film Ghulam, Aamir Khan often interfered with the filmmaking process. According to Tijori, Aamir kept discussing changes, reshooting scenes for perfection, and making script suggestions. This reportedly frustrated Mahesh Bhatt so much that he decided to leave the project.
Disagreements between heroes and directors are common in the film industry. These often happen when actors get deeply involved in the making of the film. Some actors try to avoid public disputes, while others, especially star heroes, reportedly pressure directors to follow their ideas.
At the time, Bhatt was replaced by Vikram Bhatt, who went on to complete the film. Ghulam, starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji, was released on 19 June 1998 and became a commercial success. The film followed Aamir’s ideas for the story and screenplay, which some say contributed to its success. It was also nominated for six Filmfare Awards and won Best Film.
Aamir Khan has long been known for his deep involvement in the creative side of his films. While some directors appreciated his input, others blamed his interference for failures. In recent years, Aamir has faced several flops, and fans feel this old story is being brought up at the wrong time.
Many Aamir fans have criticised Deepak Tijori for speaking about the past now, saying it only tries to damage Aamir’s image further during a tough phase in his career.
