Gore Verbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die to release in India on February
Academy Award winning filmmaker Gore Verbinski is returning to cinemas with his new independent film, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, which will release in India on February 20. The film will be screened in selected cinemas across the country in English only and will be distributed by Multivision Multimedia India Pvt Ltd.
Gore Verbinski is best known for directing major global hits such as The Ring, the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and the animated feature Rango, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Over his career, his films have earned more than $3 billion worldwide. Known for avoiding safe choices, Verbinski often blends spectacle with strong characters and bold ideas. With Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, he turns his attention to modern concerns such as technology, artificial intelligence and social media, using humour and satire to explore serious themes.
The film stars Sam Rockwell, an Academy Award winner best known for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Moon and Jojo Rabbit. Rockwell leads a strong ensemble cast that includes Haley Lu Richardson, praised for Columbus and The White Lotus; Michael Peña, known for Crash and Ant-Man; and Zazie Beetz, recognised for her roles in Atlanta and Joker. The cast also features British-Asian comedian Asim Chaudhry, young actor Tom Taylor, and acclaimed performers Juno Temple and Juno Temple, adding depth and variety to the story.
The story unfolds on a dark night inside a busy diner, where a man bursts in claiming to be from the future. Holding a detonator, he says this is the 117th time he has returned with the same mission: to stop an upcoming AI apocalypse. With time running out, he must convince a group of ordinary and highly unprepared people to help save humanity from the dangers of artificial intelligence and social media algorithms. Whether they succeed or fail remains uncertain.
Speaking about the film’s Indian release, Sunil Udhani, Managing Director of Multivision Multimedia India Pvt Ltd, said the film deeply impressed him and praised its originality and scale. The film has also received strong reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Verbinski describes the film as a “date night movie” that uses humour to tackle uncomfortable truths. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die promises to be a bold, funny and thought-provoking cinematic experience when it arrives in Indian cinemas next February.
