Telangana Heatwave Horror: Revanth Reddy Issues Urgent Public Warning

As Telangana battles one of the harshest summers in recent years, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued an urgent appeal asking people not to step outdoors during peak afternoon hours. With temperatures crossing 46°C in several districts and hospitals preparing for heatstroke emergencies, the state is now on high alert as authorities race to prevent a public health crisis.

CM Revanth Reddy Issues Statewide Heat Advisory

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed the worsening weather conditions after severe heatwave warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

He instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply, emergency medical preparedness, and functioning cooling facilities across Telangana. Citizens were specifically advised to avoid travel between noon and 4 PM, when temperatures are at their highest.

Temperatures Cross 46°C Across Telangana

Several districts in Telangana recorded dangerously high temperatures this week, with Dilawarpur in Nirmal district touching 46.5°C. Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad, and Ramagundam also witnessed extreme heat conditions.

Hyderabad itself reported temperatures above 41°C. Weather officials warned that the heatwave may continue for the next three to four days before conditions begin to ease slightly.

Hospitals And Officials Put On Emergency Alert

The Telangana government has directed hospitals and healthcare centres to remain fully prepared for heatstroke and dehydration cases.

Officials were asked to stock ORS packets, maintain emergency medical support, and create awareness among vulnerable groups including children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers. Authorities are also monitoring electricity supply closely to avoid power cuts during peak heat hours.

Heatwave Begins Affecting Daily Life In Districts

The scorching temperatures are already disrupting normal life in several regions of Telangana.

Reports from northern districts revealed deserted roads, halted farming activities, and increasing health complaints linked to sun exposure.

In parts of Adilabad, residents depended on buttermilk, coconut water, and fruit juices to cope with the intense heat. One suspected sunstroke-related death was also reported.

Safety Tips Citizens Must Follow Immediately

Health experts and officials are urging people to stay hydrated, wear light cotton clothes, and avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.

Citizens travelling outdoors are advised to carry water bottles, use caps or umbrellas, and immediately seek medical attention if symptoms like dizziness, nausea, headache, or confusion appear. The IMD continues to monitor the situation as Telangana faces one of its toughest summer spells.
