Young Chef Olympiad: A Premier Culinary Celebration
The 11th edition of the Young Chef Olympiad, recognized as the largest culinary competition worldwide, commenced on January 4th at the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. This year’s theme, “AI in Cooking,” has attracted gifted young chefs from 50 nations, who are competing at seven venues across India.
A Worldwide Contest
Organized by IIHM and overseen by the International Hospitality Council (UK), the Olympiad has experienced remarkable growth since its launch in 2015. Expanding from 15 participating countries to 50, it has evolved into a significant platform for culinary excellence, cultural exchange, and professional development.

India’s Contender
Ali Akbar, a student from IIHM Bangalore, is representing India in this prestigious competition. After successfully advancing from Round 1 in Goa, he is now one step closer to achieving the esteemed title for his country.
Path to the Grand Finale
The competition will see the top 20 contestants move on to the semi-finals, with the final 10 vying for victory in the grand finale scheduled for February 8th in Kolkata. The champion will be awarded a distinguished golden trophy along with a cash prize of INR 10 lakhs.
