Pushpa on OTT; Prime Video also releases Velle, Unpaused

This week, one of the major releases on Amazon Prime Video is of the film that trending across India and beyond – the Telugu Action Thriller Pushpa: The Rise—Part 1. Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika MAndanna and Fahadh Faasil and written and directed by Sukumar, the film released on OTT in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada in more than 240 countries and territories across the world. 

The film that has already created quite a buzz in movie theatres takes the viewers on an intensely wild, hair-raising ride deep into the Seshachalam forests situated in Andhra Pradesh. Here, lorry driver Pushpa Raj—portrayed by Allu Arjun—is deeply involved in the smuggling of red sandalwood trees. The movie chronicles the fight of good against evil as the police crack down on the smuggling empire that is rampant in these parts. The film has rtecevied rave reviews for Allu Arjun’s performance, the taking that is fast-paced, powerful. The narrative pulls the viewers into a vortex where there is no right or wrong, and there are no bad men—only heroes in different hues of gray.     

According to director Sukumar, This is a story set in the heartland of India. The idea of taking the viewers on a journey into the cutthroat world of red sandalwood smuggling operations had been with me for some time now. I believe that viewers will appreciate the fact that the movie moves away from the absolutes of good and evil, and delivers a roller-coaster ride of action and drama. The compelling story and the fantastic performances by the talented cast will make it a must-watch immersive experience for viewers across the world.”

VelleIn addition to Pushpa on OTT platform, Prime Video has also announced the premiere of Karan Deol’s ‘Velle’. Directed by Deven Munjal, ‘Velle’ is presented by ADF, An Intercut Entertainment Pvt Ltd Production and features Karan Deol, Abhay Deol, Anya Singh, Savant Singh Premi, Visshesh Tiwari & Mouni Roy (Sp. Appearance). 

The launch of ‘Unpauced: Naya Safar’ is another big release. Unpaused: Naya Safar showcases five unique stories of hope and triumph that provide a window into how the COVID 19 pandemic has changed us, making us value life and emotions more than ever. Vignettes of raw human emotions like love, longing, fear and friendship – sensitively brought to life by filmmakers such as Shikha Makan, Ruchir Arun, Nupur Asthana, Ayappa KM and Nagraj Manjule.

Following the overwhelming response of the first edition, Unpaused, which had premiered in 2020. The sequel of the Amazon Original anthology will offer five Hindi short films, each delving uniquely into the relatable challenges that the pandemic has inflicted on everyone, while stressing on the need to embrace a positive outlook as everyone welcomes the New Year.

Brimming with love and positivity, the anthology urges us to embrace new beginnings with the start of this New Year.

  • Teen Tigada directed by Ruchir Arun; starring Saqib Saleem, Ashish Verma and Sam Mohan.

  • The Couple directed by Nupur Asthana; starring Shreya Dhanwanthary and Priyanshu Painyuli.

  • Gond Ke Laddu directed by Shikha Makan; starring Neena Kulkarni, Darshana Rajendran and Lakshvir Singh Saran.

  • War Room directed by Ayappa KM; starring Geetanjali Kulkarni, Rasika Agashe, Purnanand Wandhekar and Sharvari Deshpande.

  • Vaikunth directed by Nagraj Manjule; starring Arjun Karche and Hanumant Bhandari.
