While the first look will be out on July 10, the makers are aiming at an August 2 release
After surprising many with his earnest portrayal of an NHRC official in his last film, Nindha, a crime thriller, Happy Days star Varun Sandesh is gearing up for another theatrical release. Produced by Mahendra Nath Kondla, the brain behind Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s thriller Sabari, the film titled Viraaji marks the directorial debut of Adhyanth Harsha.
The film’s title was formally revealed in the presence of media and movie buffs in Hyderabad today. A brief sneak peek into the film hinted at a tense backdrop revolving around a haunted mansion. Other actors in the lineup – Raghu Karamanchi, Pramodhini Pammi, Kakinada Nani, Anger Tales fame Phani Acharya also attended the event. Viraaji is slated to hit screens on August 2, the team shared.
“As Harsha narrated the film, I was coming up with my script version and asking him if I guessed it right. He surprised me every time and when I heard of a crucial plot twist in the second hour, I decided I had to be a part of it at any cost. I had goosebumps in the script discussions and I’m sure audiences will have a similar experience to share in the theatres,” Varun Sandesh said.
“The only reason I said yes to the film was the director Harsha. I was lucky to be a part of another impressive film Nindha recently and the director Rajesh Jagannadham already has a couple of offers from leading production houses. I am sure Harsha too will get his due after Viraaji’s release. He’s everything but a newcomer,” the Happy Days actor further added.
The first look of Varun Sandesh’s character in Viraaji will be out on July 10. At the event, the makers hinted that Viraaji refers to light. GV Ajay Kumar cranks the camera for the film while Ebenezer Paul (Ebby) scores the music. Roja Bhaskar is the costume designer and Ram Tumu is the editor respectively. After Viraaji, Varun Sandesh will next be seen in Constable.
