Deaf EnAbled Foundation Empowering the Deaf Community
Deaf EnAbled Foundation is a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering the deaf community. In collaboration with the Telangana State Government and Tech Mahindra Foundation, the nonprofit is committed to breaking barriers and fostering inclusivity.
A recent milestone for the foundation was the launch of the EduSign Academy App. This app, available on both android and apple platforms, serves as a formal education assistance platform designed specifically for deaf students pursuing Intermediate and Degree programs. Covering essential skills such as office readiness, English communication, and basic computer knowledge, EduSign Academy is instrumental in equipping deaf individuals with the tools for a dignified livelihood.
Another noteworthy achievement is the DEF ISL App, the country’s largest sign language dictionary, boasting over 60,000+ words and sentences translated from English to Indian Sign Language. Since its launch six years ago, this app has garnered an impressive 6,00,000+ active users, marking a significant impact in promoting accessibility for the deaf.
The foundation’s commitment to inclusivity was further highlighted by the recent event at YMCA Grounds, Secunderabad. With Chief Guest Mr. B Venkatesham, Principal Secretary to the Government of Telangana State, BC Welfare Department, and Guests of Honour Mr. MSB Sudheer Babu, Program Director (Youth Advancement) and Mr. Sanjay Jain, Managing Director of PMJ Jewels, the foundation emphasized its dedication to creating an inclusive society.
Through initiatives like the EduSign Academy App and the DEF ISL App, Deaf EnAbled Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in breaking down communication barriers and creating opportunities for the deaf community to thrive in all aspects of life.
On September 23, 2023, Deaf EnAbled Foundation, in collaboration with the Telangana State Government and Tech Mahindra Foundation, orchestrated a significant event at YMCA Grounds, Secunderabad, in celebration of the International Day of Sign Languages. The highlight was the unveiling of the EduSign Academy App, a formal education assistance platform in Sign Language tailored for deaf students pursuing Intermediate and Degree programs.
This app, available on both android and apple devices, equips deaf individuals with skills essential for a dignified livelihood. The event also celebrated the DEF ISL App, the country’s largest sign language dictionary, surpassing 6,00,000+ active users since its launch six years ago. Chief Guest Mr. B Venkatesham, along with Guests of Honour Mr. MSB Sudheer Babu and Mr. Sanjay Jain, released blue hot air balloons as a symbolic gesture of support for an inclusive society. The event, featuring captivating performances by over 500 deaf participants, underscored a profound commitment to inclusivity and empowerment in the deaf community.
