A Feast of Gratitude: UTK’s 5th Anniversary Kicks Off with Civic Heroes in the Spotlight

UTK 5th anniversary

Vijayawada on May 6th, 2026,  buzzing with progress, United Telugu Kitchens (UTK) turned heads and warmed hearts by rolling out the red carpet,  or rather, a lavish lunch spread , for over 80 sanitation and civic workers. This wasn’t just any meal; it marked the grand kickoff to UTK’s fifth anniversary celebrations, blending spicy Telugu flavors with pure community love.

Bustling flagship outlet alive with laughter, the aroma of sizzling Andhra spices, and dignitaries rubbing shoulders with the everyday heroes who keep Vijayawada shining. It’s the kind of vibe that screams “Mana Bhasha. Mana Bhojanam.” –, UTK’s mantra translating to “Our Language. Our Food.” And on this Wednesday afternoon starting at 1:00 PM, that ethos shone brighter than ever.

VIP Guests and a Message That Hits Home

civic workers felicitation

Leading the pack was Member of Parliament Kesineni Sivanath as Chief Guest, flanked by heavyweights like Dudekula Chairman Nagu Meera, Vijaya Dairy Chairman Chalasani Anjaneyulu, APSS Board Chairman Bala Kotayya, and civic leaders Koganti Ramarao and Sripathi. Sivanath didn’t hold back, praising the workers’ “vital role in sustaining the city’s growth and infrastructure.” He even hyped up Telugu cuisine’s global glow-up, crediting trailblazing entrepreneurs like UTK’s founders for exporting those fiery regional flavors worldwide.

The highlight? Sivanath personally handed out utility kits to the workers, symbolizing real appreciation. Then came the sit-down feast ,  a dignified affair packed with UTK’s signature dishes that nod to Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema traditions. Think fiery Gongura Pachadi, melt-in-your-mouth Chepa Pulusu, and crispy Punugulu ,  all crafted to honor roots while feeling fresh and inclusive.

From Humble Beginnings to Multi-City Sensation

Flashback to 2022: Koushik Koganti and Theji Pinnamaneni launched UTK in Vijayawada with a bold vision,  a massive restaurant celebrating over 300 dishes from Telugu heartlands. What started as one spot has exploded to Hyderabad and Bengaluru, proving that authentic eats can scale without losing soul.

UTK isn’t just about plates; it’s a cultural hub. Their philosophy? Food as a bridge for identity and connection. As co-founder Koushik Koganti reflected post-event, “Entering our fifth year, what stands out most is the strong community we’ve built. This initiative is a small gesture to recognize those who contribute tirelessly to the city every day.” Theji Pinnamaneni echoed, “At UTK, food has always been about connection and identity. As we move forward, our focus will remain on creating experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways.”

Savoring the Flavors: Why UTK’s Menu Steals the Show

regional Telugu dishes

Ever wondered what makes Telugu cuisine pop? It’s the bold spice symphony – tamarind tang, chili heat, and fresh herb punches that tell stories of coastal Andhra feasts and arid Rayalaseema grit. UTK nails this with dishes like:

  • Pesarattu Upma: Crispy green gram dosa stuffed with savory upma, a Telangana breakfast icon.
  • Royyala Iguru: Prawns in a coconutty gravy that’s pure coastal bliss.
  • Rayalaseema Ragi Sangati: Finger millet balls paired with spicy mutton curry for that rustic kick.

Their 300+ menu items keep things dynamic, from vegan delights to meaty indulgences, all prepped with local ingredients. No wonder global foodies are hooked, UTK’s proving Telugu grub rivals the world’s best.
