Vadhuvu
If you are a fan of Hitchcock and Rabindranath Tagore, you will love Vadhuvu, says Kausalya Suharika R

Vadhuvu, a thriller series on Disney+Hotstar exceeds the expectations. The screenplay is intriguing and leaves the audience wanting more. The only hard part now is to wait for the second season to know what’s the mystery in that house!

Plot: Indu(Avika Gor) is about to get married into a family who appears to be mysterious. Although, with all the bad signs, and negative intuitions lingering, why didn’t she say no to the wedding, even when at a time it seemed like a death trap? What secrets are Anand(Nandu) and Arya(Ali Reza) holding within the family, so the wedding is successful and Indu enters their home? Even after marriage, why is Anand not happy with Indu? What is actually going on in that house forms the story of season one.

Strengths: The screenplay is top notch, adapted from the Bengali series ‘Indu,’ penned by Sahana Dutta and Poluri Krishna.

The series remains true to human nature, evoking a reminiscent feel of Rabindranath Tagore’s stories. It takes a realistic approach to portray emotions and situations.

Avika Gor is exceptional, flawlessly sustaining the mood throughout the series.

All the cast are serious in their jobs and gave their true best performances. The main goal of the cast is to maintain the mystery, come what may, never reveal anything to the audience.

The storytelling in Vadhuvu is truly splendid, and the screenplay takes you back to the iconic style of Hitchcock. If you’re a fan, it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the show.

Sadly, they have successfully not revealed anything of the mystery and the audience have to wait for season 2 for their answers

The only overlooked aspect is that Avika Gor does not lip sync with the dialogues. In some scenes, her mouth doesn’t even move noticeably but the dialogues are running in the background. Hope the crew team takes care of it next season.

If you are a fan of the thriller genre with a great story telling, go ahead to watch Vadhuvu on Disney+Hotstar, it’ll definitely drag you into their world!

Rating: 4/5
